Virtual Coach: Potential Chart – Play the Score You’re Capable of Shootin

Updated over a week ago

Track like the pros. Play smarter. Drop strokes fast.
Roundabout’s Potential chart shows the score you could have posted if you’d simply avoided big, self-inflicted mistakes. By spotlighting what went wrong (and how many shots each mistake costs), the chart lets you tighten strategy, focus practice, and reach your true scoring ceiling.

How to open the Potential chart

  1. Home → Virtual Coach and scroll to Potential.

Availability: Potential lives in the Eagle plans. If you’re on the Free, Par, or Birdie tier, upgrade to unlock it.

What you’ll see

Metric

What it tracks

Why it matters

3-Putts

Holes where you needed 3 or more putts

Every extra roll is a wasted stroke; speed drills slash three-putts.

2 Chips

Needing more than one shot to hit the green from inside 75 yds

Missed greens from scoring range balloon scores; sharpen wedge & greenside technique.

Penalties / Recoveries

OB, hazards, unplayables and punch-out recoveries (counted as 0.5 penalty)

Nothing wrecks a card faster than penalty strokes; smarter targets keep the ball in play.

Total Mistakes

Sum of the three categories above

Your “easy-win” stroke total—clean these up first.

Potential Score

Actual score minus Total Mistakes

The number you should have shot if you’d avoided the wreckers.

Color bars indicate how many of each mistake you made.

Turn insight into lower scores

  1. Course strategy – If penalties dominate, pick safer targets, club down in trouble spots, or aim away from hazards.

  2. Practice plan – Highest mistake column = first item on the range or putting-green agenda.

  3. Goal setting – Commit to cutting one mistake per round; use the Eliminate Mistakes and Work on First sections to stay in touch with your highest priorities for practice.

  4. Coach collaboration – Screenshot the chart and share it with your instructor so lessons attack the biggest leaks.

Pro tips

  • Play a few rounds first. Potential appears once the app has enough data to identify patterns.

  • Combine with Strokes Gained. See how eliminating mistakes improves tee-to-green SG, not just raw score.

  • Celebrate milestones. When Total Mistakes hits zero for a round, give yourself a high-five—you just played to your potential!
